چکیده
SIMREG is a non-deterministic tree-level distance independent forest model that can simulate growth, yield and management on regional scale while representing the wide diversity of composition, structure found in stands. It composed several sub-models to represent main dynamics (growth, recruitment, removal, clearcut reforestation) account for species stand density, tree size social status, ownership type some sites characteristics. We used data collected by permanent inventory Wallonia (IPRFW) between 1994 2015 calibrate forecast development Wallonia's 479 500 ha productive (465 million simulated trees) until 2050. According our simulation, harvesting rate Norway spruce (the production species) currently unsustainable it gradually being replaced other such as Douglas-fir, larch various hardwoods. appears terms total softwood volume production, higher level Douglas-fir should eventually compensate decline spruce. In contrast, harvest hardwood stands around 75% annual yield, resulting steady increase stock about 600 000 m³ per year. Our methodology easily replicable required sub-model calibration are consistent with those measured most NFIs, so simulation could be adapted regions countries.

Forests provide significant commodity and noncommodity values to the citizens of the United States. An important and substantial role in ensuring the continued health, productivity, and sustainability of these resources is a reliable and credible inventory and monitoring program. The Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) program of the US Forest Service has been monitoring and reporting on status...

We present a collection of papers derived from the 2012 Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Symposium held on December 4-6, 2012 in Baltimore, MD, USA. The symposium featured 128 oral presentations with nearly 200 attendees from the United States and other countries. A proceedings from the symposium included 75 papers as well as abstracts for all presentations and posters. The symposium theme, ...
متن کاملA large-scale forest landscape model incorporating multi-scale processes and utilizing forest inventory data
Two challenges confronting forest landscape models (FLMs) are how to simulate fine, standscale processes while making large-scale (i.e., .10 ha) simulation possible, and how to take advantage of extensive forest inventory data such as U.S. Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) data to initialize and constrain model parameters. We present the LANDIS PRO model that addresses these needs. LANDIS PRO...
متن کاملApplication of Decision-tree Techniques to Forest Group and Basal Area Mapping Using Satellite Imagery and Forest Inventory Data
Accurate, current, and cost-effective fire fuel data are required by management and fire science communities for use in reducing wildland fire hazards over large areas. In this paper we present results of applying decision-tree techniques to mapping vegetation parameters (such as vegetation types and canopy structure classification) required for fire fuel characterization. Specifically, we pres...
